Delete your ChatQR account or data

ChatQR is operated by ChatQR, LLC. You can delete your entire account, or just specific data, at any time. Deletion is permanent and can't be undone.

Option 1: Delete your entire account

In the ChatQR app or on the website

  1. Sign in to ChatQR.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. In the Danger Zone, tap Delete and confirm.

Can't sign in?

Email [email protected] from the address registered on your account and we'll delete it for you. We may ask you to verify your identity first.

Option 2: Delete specific data, keep your account

Do it yourself, right in the app

  • A post — open it, tap ⋯, then Delete Post.
  • A photo, video, or document you uploaded to a Circle — open it and delete it from there.
  • A Group membership — open the group and choose Leave.
  • An Event RSVP — open the event and remove your RSVP.
  • A friend connection — open their profile and choose Unfriend.
  • Imported contacts — open Contacts and remove them individually.

Anything else (individual messages, a Circle membership, or a full data export then deletion)

A couple of things aren't self-service yet — removing yourself from a Circle is up to that Circle's owner, and deleting an individual message isn't exposed in the app yet. For either of those, or anything broader, email [email protected] describing what you'd like deleted, from the address registered on your account. We'll confirm with you and complete the request within 30 days.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, so is everything that's yours:

  • Your profile, avatar, and account details
  • Your posts, comments, and reactions
  • Messages you sent (a shared chat itself, and messages the other person sent, remain visible to them — only your own messages and your participation are removed)
  • Circles and Groups you created (including for their other members); your own membership in anyone else's Circle or Group is removed, but the Circle/Group itself stays for its owner
  • Events you organized (including for other attendees); your own RSVPs to someone else's event are removed, but the event itself stays
  • Friend connections and pending friend requests
  • Imported contacts and Facebook import data
  • Orders and purchase history

What's kept, and for how long

  • QR codes you generated (your personal invite code, a Circle's invite code, etc.) are kept so links you already shared don't silently break for whoever has them — they're detached from your identity, not deleted, and carry nothing that identifies you anymore.
  • Backups and server logs that already contain a copy of your data are purged within 90 days of deletion as part of our normal backup rotation.

See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how we handle data.
