Family center ยท Parental controls

A social app you can say yes to.

Add your kids from Family center โ€” or have them sign up with your email. You approve every new friend and decide what they can use, for as long as they need you to.

How it works

Set up together in minutes.

  1. 1

    Add your child

Create their account from Family center, or ask to supervise one they already have. (Teens under 16 who sign up on their own enter your email instead.)

  2. 2

    They're set up

They get an email to set their password. Under 16, you supervise straight away; 16 and older, they accept.

  3. 3

    You approve new friends

Every friend request waits for you โ€” even one from scanning a QR code.

  4. 4

    You choose what they use

Turn the feed, chats or events on or off, any time.

Your controls

Everything a parent can do.

Approve every friend

New friend requests wait for you. Approve, decline, or block the person who sent it.

Turn features on or off

Choose whether your teen can use the feed, chats and events. Only you can change it.

See what they share

See the posts and comments your teen shares, all in one place.

Manage their settings

Set who can see their profile photo, what their feed shows, and whether they can change their own settings.

Get notified

We let you know whenever a friend request needs your approval.

Always out in the open

Your teen always sees that their account is supervised. Nothing is hidden from them.

Built in

Safer by design, before you change a thing.

These are on for every teen account automatically.

  • Their profile is visible only to their friends and to you โ€” never public.
  • Adults can't find them in search or suggestions โ€” kids only find other kids.
  • Their photos and posts are for friends only.
  • No ads, and nothing about them is ever sold.
  • No algorithm deciding what they see next โ€” and no like counts to chase.
  • Their account can't be used at all until you approve it.

Questions

What parents ask.

Who needs a parent's approval?

Anyone under 16. When a teen signs up, they enter a parent or guardian's email, and their account stays switched off until that parent approves it.

Does the parent need a ChatQR account?

Yes โ€” it's free. The approval email walks you through signing up (or signing in), and approving takes one tap.

Can my teen add friends without me?

No. Every new friend request โ€” including one made by scanning a QR code โ€” waits for your approval before they become friends. You can approve it, decline it, or block the person.

Can I read my teen's messages?

No. ChatQR doesn't let anyone read private chats. Instead, you approve every new friend, and you can turn chats off entirely.

Can my teen turn the controls off?

No. Only you can switch the feed, chats or events on and off, and you decide whether your teen can change their own settings. Once they're 18 they can end supervision themselves.

Can I keep supervising an older teen?

Yes. You can add a child at any age from Family center. Kids under 16 are supervised as soon as you create their account; at 16 and older they're asked to accept. You can step back whenever you're ready, and at 18 they can end it themselves.

Can both parents supervise?

Yes. From your child's Family center page, invite the other parent โ€” you'll both approve friends and manage settings.

Can strangers find my teen?

Adults can't find anyone under 18 in search or friend suggestions โ€” they'd need your teen's own QR code or invite link. Teens can find other teens through friends they share, and under 16 you approve every new friend. Their photos and posts are only for their friends and you.

Will my teen know their account is supervised?

Yes. A Supervised badge is always shown on their account โ€” nothing is hidden from them.

Are there ads?

No. There are no ads, no algorithmic feed and no like counts โ€” for anyone.

Give them a better first social app.

Private, ad-free, and with you in charge.
